A patient arrives with symptoms that could point five different ways. Over nine days, the case is yours to solve, take the history, order the right investigations, weigh the evidence, and commit to a diagnosis and a plan you can stand behind.

The Oxford Medicine & Clinical Skills Summer School at OSP is a two-week immersive course designed for high school students aged 14–18 interested in medicine and the science behind it. Scholars work in small teams to carry a single patient case across the programme. They identify symptoms, build differential diagnoses, plan investigations, design a management plan, and present their reasoning — mirroring how clinicians actually work through a case from start to finish.

It is open to students aged 14–18 who are curious about medicine, the human body, and healthcare. Whether you are considering medicine, biomedical science, genetics, or a related field, this programme provides a comprehensive introduction to clinical reasoning and medical science.

The course strengthens applications by demonstrating genuine commitment to studying medicine. It provides practical experience in clinical reasoning, research, and medical ethics, showcasing intellectual curiosity and readiness for university-level study. Scholars also receive letters of recommendation from Oxford tutors, adding academic credibility to their applications.

No prior knowledge is required. The summer school is designed for Scholars with varying levels of experience, from complete beginners to those with a strong interest in the field. The curriculum builds foundational knowledge and equips all Scholars with the tools they need to succeed.

The course builds skills in clinical reasoning, communication, research, and ethical decision-making — all highly valued across medicine, healthcare, and biomedical science.
